Who I am: the journey from CB to IZ6CLV

  1. 1980s

    CB radio

From a childhood walkie-talkie to 27 MHz CB with the President Lincoln: the first SSB contact with a French radio amateur is when radio became a vocation.

  2. 1993

    IW6OWU

The amateur radio licence and the first real station: ICOM IC-706, a 3-element ECO beam for HF and a 13-element KLM for VHF/UHF on a 6-metre tower with rotator.

  3. Rome

    IW0EOD

The move to Rome and a district 0 callsign: operating in a city, with noise and little room for antennas, is a constant school.

  4. 2003

    IZ6CLV

The full licence with the practical Morse (CW) exam and the final callsign IZ6CLV, which I still use today from Cellino Attanasio.

Today’s station

Transceiver

Yaesu FT-DX10, a 100 W hybrid SDR with DSP filters and a real-time spectrum display.

Antennas

Prosistel PST-1524TV “Cornuta”, a trapped dipole for 10, 15, 20 and 40 m, and a multiband HF vertical for the WARC bands (30, 17 and 12 m).

Digital modes and software

FT8 and FT4 with WSJT-X, logging with Log4OM and confirmations via LoTW.

Why RadioMeteo

RadioMeteo collects the tools and guides I use in the shack, made for radio amateurs and listeners: all free, with the official sources listed on every page.
