Amateur radio resources

Amateur radio resources for radio amateurs and listeners: all RadioMeteo tools on one page, grouped by topic, and a selection of official sources and useful services for operating, propagation, logging and QSL, DX and radio listening.

How to use these amateur radio resources

A practical path: from the tools that help you prepare a contact to the sources that give the official confirmation.

  1. Step 1If you have just been licensed

Start with the band plan to know where and in which mode to transmit, then check Ham Radio Weather and Band conditions to see which bands are open. The grid locator is what you exchange as your position in contacts.

  2. Step 2Before you go on air

Check solar indices and real activity, open the DX Cluster to see who is active and the contest calendar to know whether the bands will be crowded. On repeaters, check channel, input and shift.

  3. Step 3After the contact

Log the QSO, confirm it with LoTW or a paper QSL card and keep an eye on awards. For licences and regulations rely on your national authority; for band plans, IARU Region 1 and your national society.

  4. Step 4If you enjoy listening

On air now and the programme guide show shortwave broadcasters; WebSDR receivers let you listen from other countries, and WEFAX reception decodes weather charts sent by radio.
